As a result of the relationship built between Mascato and Kokopelli during our tour to Namibia in 2004, a “Twin Choir Partnership” has developed.  What began as an individual chorister exchange between the two choirs soon became a mission to bring as many Mascato members as possible to Canada.

In the spring of 2006, 35 Mascato choristers and their wonderful leader Mrs. Ena Venter arrived in Edmonton for a fully funded tour of Western Canada.  With very little corporate support, Kokopelli members, along with friends and family, raised $150,000 during the 2005-2006 season to support the Mascato’s tour.  Once again, music proved to be the equalizer and the partnership between the two choirs resulted in some incredible performance opportunities.  Life-long friendships were forged between the youth from opposite sides of the Atlantic.

The Kokopelli Choir Association has recently returned to southern Africa in the summer of 2007, with visits to both Mascato and Siyacula choirs, as well as touring parts of Zambia and Botswana.
