Audition Information
For all of our choirs, commitment is key. You will be presented with a draft schedule for upcoming season at your audition. Singers are expected to participate in rehearsals and performances throughout the year, barring illness, family emergency, or similar unexpected circumstances.
We currently have a couple of spots left for tenors and basses for the current season. Please contact Scott Leithead at the link below for further details.
For Kokopelli (ages 16 to 23):
Because there are usually fewer openings than applicants for these choirs, auditions are a competitive process for Kokopelli. Applicants participate in a 10-minute audition:
- the applicant sings a short (30 to 60 second) a cappella song in any style
- vocal exercises to establish the applicant's vocal skill and range
- basic ear training skill evaluation (applicant will be asked to repeat short musical phrases)
- sight reading skill evaluation (a basic melody is presented in the applicant's vocal range, and the applicant sings this melody unaccompanied on sight)
- a brief discussion of the applicant's musical experience as well as other attributes that could benefit our choirs (i.e. dance training, languages spoken, overall attitude and personality)
Every year Kokopelli includes singers with all levels of experience; the potential of the applicant's voice, as well as the applicant's attitude and personality, are important factors in our decision process.
Good luck and we look forward to meeting you at the audition!
